Mrs. Wake's Death

One of Esquimalt’s estimable pioneer residents passed away- in the person of Mrs. Wake, widow of the late Capt. Wake whose name was familiar to most of the early settlers. The deceased succumbed to advancing years, being 63 years of age. She leaves four children, two

sons and two daughters, all of whom are married and well to do. The funeral took place from the residence of her son-in-law, Gervas, to St. Paul’s Church and thence to the naval cemetery.  The pallbearers were; the Honerable C.E. Pooley, Mr. Lindley Crease, Mr. T. Sydney Dobbin, Mr.

F.C. Davidge, Mr.W.Fitzherbert Bullen, and Mr. Kenneth Mackenzie.  The officiating clergyman was Rev. C. Ensor Sharpe, rector, and the choir of St. Paul’s sang the musical parts of the service.
