"Killed in collision - as a result of a head-on collision between a ballast train and a logging train yesterday near Mc Bride Junction, H. E. Wake, engineer of the logging train, was almost instantly killed, dying as he was being rushed to the hospital at Nanaimo.  Engineer Wake was a well-known  resident of Victoria, a most estimable young man

who had a host of   friends who will be pained to hear of his tragic  death. He was unmarried and about 30 years ofage, grandson of the late Capt. Baldwin Wake.  He was formerly a member of No1 Company, Fifth Regiment.  A sister is a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital."
